2008 Chris Harrison Junior Tournament
Winner or the Red ball competitions was young Aimee Polyblank from Penzance who wowed everyone with her talent for such a young girl - definitely a star of the future. Runners Up were Joseph Morris and Thomas Lambourne of the Truro LTC.
Winner of the Orange Ball for the Boys was Thanos Chrysanthou of Truro LTC, and Runner up was Kieran Trewehella who played a great match which was well contested. The Girls Orange Ball event was won by Claudia Hallsworth ,and the Runner up was Ariel Fitkin.
In the Under 10 girls competition the final was won by Caitlin Barton-Sargeant, taking her match 4-2, 4-1 against Ellie White. Under 10 Boys had a strong entry this year, but the winner was Julian Robinson from London who won in a tight match against Newquay’s Isaac Barrow - the score 4-2, 2-4, then the tie break just going to Julian in the third set.
In the Under 12 Boys there were 24 entrants with the eventual winner Daniel Robson in another nail-biting final with Alex Wright just gaining the win with a 6-4, 7-6 score line. The Under 12 Girls final is still to be played as both finalists Amy Johns of Penzance and Athena reached the nationals. Truro’s Athena Chrysanthou won both her qualifying matches to compete in the main draw held at the weekend.
Under 14 boys was won by Connor Polyblank of Penzance, with the runner up being Kieran Walsh also of Penzance. The Girls Under 14 was won by Lauren Norton of Newquay, with the runner up being Athena Chrysanthou.
In the Under 16 Boys the winner was Huw Vicary of Truro LTC, with the runner up Connor Polyblank of Penzance. Under 16 Girls was won by Claire Tresidder of Truro LTC, with the runner up charlotte Pinch.
The Under 18 Boys winner was Marius Biedka from Windsor, and the runner up was John Fildes. In the Under 18 Girls, the winner was Claire Tressider from Truro LTC who beat Octavia Stead.
In the doubles events, winners of the Girls Under 14 were Amy Johns and Athena Chrysanthemum, and in the boys event it was Kieran Walsh and Connor Polyblank. Under 18 boys doubles was won by Truro’s Oliver Bent and Elliott Dunn.
Consolation events were won by Chelsea Stephens - U12 Girls, Luke Smith of Truro LTC - U12 boys, Kieron Butter of Truro LTC - U14 Boys, India Rojano - U14 Girls, Kym–Marie Wimberley - U16 girls, Daniel Bray - U16 Boys, Kym-Marie Wimberley - U18 girls and Adam Dann - U18 boys.
Congratulations also go to Claire Tresidder for her success at the Torbay grade 3 Open that took place the week before Truro. She succeeded in both the girls Doubles and Mixed event, and reached the semi-finals in her singles.
