Terrific day's play at the Truro LTC Presidents Tournament

Truro Lawn Tennis Club held its annual Presidents Tournament on Saturday 10 October. The weather was glorious and very unseasonable with bright blue sky and warm sunshine. The format as always for the day’s event was an “American” Doubles style tournament.

With a larger entry than usual, 31 in total, play began in great spirits with fast-paced matches and close score lines. The winners were John Lea of the Blues with 20 points, and Judith Ward of the Reds who played a very strong game throughout giving her a total of 29 points.

Second place was tied by Mark Thomas and Mark Edwards, both on 19 points for the Blues, and Bobby Weaver, Club Chairman Paul Taylor and Gwynedd Haslock all on 18 points for the Reds.

Afternoon tea was served, and everyone had had a fantastic day with great play and plenty of good humour.

“More events like this are to be staged at the club over the next twelve months, and it is great to see so many senior players enjoying these types of events and competitions. The club has a strong history of competition and many of the top County senior and junior players have come from here. It is always easy to see why when you are part of an event like this”, said the club's Head Coach, Ryan Fern.
