Despite freezing temperatures a brisk wind and hail showers the boy’s put on a fine display. Both teams are in division 2 of the National Junior Club league, and the standard of play was terrific. Four singles matches were played:
+ John Caklais Truro beat James Woods Bodmin by 6:4, 6:2. Fantastic play by both boys set the precedent for the day’s events.
+ There was a real cliff-hanger of a match between William Richards of Truro and
Shaun Lee of Bodmin. which went to a nail-biting tie-break which Shaun won 10:6
for an overall 6:4, 4:6, 6:5. It was a real treat of a game to watch.
+ Kieron Butter of Truro beat Daniel Powell of Bodmin in the longest match, with
both players taking the game to the wire and playing in the worst conditions of the
day. The final result was 6:4, 7:5.
+ The two youngest players of the day were Oliver Piper of Truro who beat Louis
Davies of Bodmin. Both players put on a great performance with the final result
being 6:1, 6:2.
Two doubles matches were played:
+ Will Richards and John Caklais of Truro lost to James Woods and Shaun Lee of
Bodmin 4:1 4:0.
+ Kieron Butter and Oliver Piper of Truro beat Daniel Powell and Louis Davies of
Bodmin 4:1, 4:2.
Well done to both teams for a great afternoon's tennis which Truro won four games to two.
