HELD ON MONDAY 12th MAY 2008 AT TRURO LAWN TENNIS CLUB

1.Present - Paul Taylor (PT), Chrissie Taylor (CT), Dory Crellin (DKC), Tony Herring (TH), John Pollock (JP), John Hampshire (JH), Michele Cooper (MC), Sue Hall (SH), Prem Raj (PR), Brian Toms (BT), Rob Harris (RH), Sarah Butter (SB), Ryan Fern (RF)

2.Apologies - Andrew James, Martin Jackson, Margot Purves, Rob Cummins, Richard Woods, Chris Gadsden, Mark Stubbs

3. Minutes of last meeting Action

The minutes of last meeting were accepted and approved as a true record of events, a copy of which was placed onto notice board having been signed by PT.

4. Matters Arising

Suggestion book – Elaine Whittaker suggested that a replacement shower curtain be put into ladies changing area. MC/JH to look at this. RF and PT to look into possibility of a drinks/snack machine for the clubhouse too. Gary Spencer has raised the subject of padding for the decking and PT to speak with Steve Butter on this. Planning – AA, CT and PT have met regarding this. TH talked about Tolgarrick and Newham developments. Lighting – RW was not present at the meeting but e-mails have been sent and there was nothing to report. Court netting – carried forward to next meeting. Table tennis table – MS still to repair this. MC/JHRF/PT MS

5. Correspondence – DKC had received various items of post

6. Meetings with LTA and Tennis Clubmark – PT, SB and Ross Talling had a meeting with Stuart Smith recently in Bodmin ITC. Very worthwhile visit, he was very positive about our club and Sarah Butter has reported on Tennis Clubmark to Joanne Downing since then. This is to be updated every 4/5 weeks. The satellite accreditation form has been submitted, no money will be forthcoming until Clubmark work done. Thanks to SB for her hard work on this matter.

7. Finance 

CT reported that there was £10,495 in the bank. Monies received were £15,889 from subs, juniors £800, £2,403 from squads, floodlights £10, bar £25 and visitors £66. Monies out were £1,387 on coaching, repairs and renewals £108, postage/stationery £249, sundry/cleaning £817, balls £430, rates/water £151, Wimbledon tickets £1,794, affiliation fees £1,995 and £2,051 back to PT. This time last year subs in were £18,004 and as at today the total was £16,903. LTA loans – nothing had been heard back from Brendan Lucas regarding guarantees. CT had received a letter from Nationwide stating they were no longer acting on our behalf. It was proposed that JP, PT and CT act as signatories on the Alliance and Leicester account and that and that all the standing orders be moved to Alliance and Leicester. This was carried unanimously. AJ is no longer to act as a signatory.

8. Junior Sub Comm Report – The next meeting was due to be held on Saturday morning.

9. Tennis - Club closed is to be held in September this year. MP and RC had met to discuss.

10. Grounds – Kidszone – nothing to report.

11. House – Windows – JH stated that the windows needed painting, JH and RF to obtain quotes for this work. RF to put plastic film over crack in patio window to protect it. RF to ask Diane May’s husband ref touching up the paintwork inside clubhouse. JH/RF

12. Social – Next social event would be Wimbledon ticket ballot and barbeque on 23 May.

13. Press and Publicity – No CG or MJ.

14. Open Tournament - Chris Harrison will be donating £1,000 once again this year as main sponsor. SB is trying to upgrade this event to Grade 3 as it is currently grade 4. Tony Pryce would have a stall at the event on the Monday and finals’ day. A meeting was to be held very shortly with Sue Eames to discuss further. DKC to enquire about prices of new scoreboards for the club.DKC

15. AOB – A problem with chewing gum being found in men’s toilet area was being addressed. MC stated the entrance to car park was pitted and the gate needed attention as problem with locking device. House Comm/Grounds

16. Date of next meeting – Monday 14 July 2008 at 7.30pm
